To complete the solar panel, add sides and a transparent front part to the backing. The enclosure has to be able to withstand the elements, so make sure to use lots of weatherproof caulking.

Mount the panel in a spot that gets lots of sun exposure. The electricity produced by the panel will be of the DC variety, which can be used to charge batteries or power some small appliances. Connect your system to an inverter to get AC power, which is used by the majority of devices in the home.
